Installed Right the First Time

Red Oak Remodeling installs hard-surface flooring for homeowners across Huntsville, Madison, Athens, and Decatur. Whether you're replacing a single room or doing whole-home flooring, we focus on the details that determine whether floors last — subfloor flatness, moisture control, proper acclimation, and clean transitions throughout.

We focus on hard-surface flooring: solid and engineered hardwood, luxury vinyl plank, porcelain and ceramic tile, and laminate. We visit your home, measure, assess your subfloor, and give you a written estimate within 24 hours — so you have real numbers before any commitment.

Flooring Types We Install

Hardwood Flooring

Solid and engineered hardwood in oak, maple, hickory, and other species. Nail-down, glue-down, and floating installation methods. Proper moisture testing and acclimation before every install. Sanding and refinishing available for existing wood floors.

Luxury Vinyl Plank (LVP)

100% waterproof, highly durable, and available in realistic wood and stone looks. The practical choice for kitchens, bathrooms, laundry rooms, and any high-moisture or high-traffic area. Click-lock floating installation over most flat substrates.

Tile Flooring

Porcelain, ceramic, and natural stone tile — from 12x12 ceramics to large-format 24x48 porcelain slabs. Proper backerboard or uncoupling membrane substrate, precision layout lines, straight cuts, and consistent grout joints throughout.

Laminate Flooring

High-definition wood and stone looks with a tough wear layer — a durable, budget-friendly option for living rooms, bedrooms, and offices. Float installation over underlayment with proper expansion gaps at all walls and fixed objects.

Subfloor Preparation

Squeak repair, leveling compound for low spots, damaged board replacement, moisture barrier installation, and underlayment selection matched to the flooring type. We don't skip prep — it's what separates floors that last from floors that fail.

Transitions, Baseboards & Trim

Threshold strips, T-moldings, reducer strips, stair nosings, quarter-round, and baseboard reinstallation or replacement. Every edge and room-to-room transition finished cleanly — no gaps, no shortcuts.

Flooring Installation FAQ

How long does flooring installation take per room?
A single room typically takes 1–2 days including prep and cleanup. Whole-home projects run 3–7 days depending on total square footage, flooring type, and subfloor condition. We give you a written schedule before work starts.
Can new flooring be installed over my existing floors?
Sometimes — it depends on the existing floor and the new material. LVP and laminate can often float over a solid, flat surface. Tile and nail-down hardwood generally require the old floor to come out first. We assess your existing floors during the estimate visit and give you an honest recommendation.
What subfloor preparation do you do before installing?
Every installation includes a subfloor inspection. We address squeaks, repair damaged areas, fill low spots with leveling compound, and install underlayment appropriate to the flooring type. If moisture is a concern, we test and apply a moisture barrier before installation begins.
Do you test for moisture before installing hardwood?
Yes. Moisture is one of the most common causes of hardwood floor failure in North Alabama's humid climate. Before solid or engineered hardwood goes down, we check subfloor moisture levels, address any issues, install a moisture barrier if needed, and allow the wood to acclimate to the space. Skipping this step is how floors cup, buckle, and fail — we don't skip it.
What affects the cost of a flooring project?
The main cost factors are: flooring material (hardwood and natural stone cost more than LVP or laminate), total square footage, subfloor condition and prep work required, and whether old flooring removal is included. We don't publish price ranges because every project is different — we provide free, detailed written estimates within 24 hours.
Do you offer a warranty on flooring installation?
Yes. Our installation workmanship warranty is included in every written contract. Manufacturer warranties on the flooring material apply separately. If something isn't right after we close the job, contact us and we'll make it right.
